Well -we are and so was Scott's team today. The LW Central Freshman B team was the only team to beat LW North (20 to 6) this week and we are proud to say that Scott is a wide receiver for the B team! There was a lot of exciting play time for Scott today and he was thrilled.

8th Grade Graduation (Part 1)

Let me introduce to you, Martino Jr. High 2011 8th Grade Graduate ...

He graduated with First Honors and received the
Presidential Academic Excellence Award - again!
He received this in 6th Grade too. We were so
surprised and very proud.



With over 325 graduates, it was hard to get a picture of them all. Here is Scott standing in recognition of First Honors.

We are very proud to say the least of Scott. He has developed into a great young man with a fun personality. We look forward to seeing him grow further as he enters high school and surrenders the blue and gold colors he has worn for the last 8 years and starts to wear Lincoln-Way Central High School colors of Red and Black.

It was getting a bit cooler when we arrived at my in-laws home on Mother's Day so the guests that came and went were mostly inside. I enjoyed trying out my new camera that I got at Christmas in the yard. Grace was happy to pose for me. We had a parade of pregnant nieces that day and I didn't get a picture of any of them. I just get so wrapped up in the moments that I forget to take the pictures. I enjoyed my day anyhow and I have the memories in my mind for as long as that holds out!

We had a great brunch at Paula's home on Mother's Day. We all made something and had a fabulous meal. It was so nice the kids all played outside. Steve and Randy played catch with a baseball and then started hitting balls out into the field. I just don't have a picture of that! Oh well, we all had fun at the Seymours, as always. The men were on dog duty.

Easter II

I made my Mom's carrot cake recipe for Easter this year, but instead of cake I did cupcakes. They were so delicious! I only wish I had brought one to my Mom. I guess I will have to make another batch! The cupcakes are topped with a sugar glazed carrot shred. So yummy. This is a picture of the tray my sister-in-law, Dana had for the sweet delights. It made them look even better. Of course, this was taken after we had eaten many already, so you'll have to imagine it full!

Hope you all had a very good Easter. Maybe spring will come now that the holiday is behind us!

Easter

This Easter I decided to bring a different kind of bouquet to my sister-in-laws house. Yes, it's a candy bouquet. I had so much fun making it, instead of spending the big $$ ordering one. I saved $50.00 by making this myself and that was after I added the cute stuffed bunny. Let's just hope it makes it to Easter Sunday!

Archery Update!

Annabelle just finished her first competitive round in Archery. It was over a coarse of 5 weeks at 7:30 am on Saturdays. She had three shots per target at a total of 10 targets each week. Scoring was kept each week and then  averaged out. Annabelle came in second place! She was so excited to get her first archery trophy.

Annabelle will have another 3 weeks to practice her craft before the next league starts. She's excited and hoping to improve on her placement. We are so proud of her.

Clepto?

Finally after several months of being unhappy with our cleaning staff at work, I've pulled the plug. I've given them notice and have hired a new crew. However, I think the cleaning company's management that we worked with must have already told the crew they are being let go (we had to give 30 day notice) and I'm paying the price oddly.

I came into a very clean office on Monday. If they had cleaned like this all along they would have remained our cleaning staff. They even finally cleaned the kitchen microwave and actually moved the kitchen garbage can to mop the floor, but they threw out two of my plants right off my desk, which when phoned about she openly admitted she threw them out! Now, I've discovered my name plate missing from my desk too!

I know the shamrock plants were cute and being St. Patty's week I could see someone wanting to take them home. They were from our client appreciation party last week. I enhanced them with our logo and a carnation but really to steal them or throw them out as she claims? The name plate I'm baffled about. It's not like my name is something others would desire. I'm afraid now to see what else will be done or gone on Monday!

Arena Ball

#22! Tall man on the team.

Scott is playing Arena Football and loving it. It's played indoors on a field only 50 yards long. For those of you who are not football junkies, it's half the length of an outdoor field. Thankfully the walls are padded but if you touch the padding you are out of bounds. There are some other quirky but fun rules too, like when you kick a field goal if the ball goes off the side nets you can rebound it and run it in for another touchdown. It's a fun, fast paced game and only played with 8 guys a side. Since it's indoors we see a lot of balls kicked a little too high and hitting the rafters. DUCK! Good kickers are a must in this game. Scott's team is so far undefeated (3 games in) and have been for the last three years. Let's hope they stay on that roll. They are appropriately named "MPX Storm". We have 6 more games this season before playoffs.

Archery Leagues

 Annabelle at leagues for archery. There are usually 10 spots and several targets labeled with the coordinating number. There is a scoring system for each target hit within zones. She gets three arrows for each target, therefor shooting a total of 30 arrows a competition. As you can see, she has a pretty good stance, which makes a huge difference in your accuracy. We are so proud of Annabelle who was willing to learn and applying what she's learned to competing. The back wall of the range is 40 yards. I'd say come watch, but she competes at 7:30 am on Saturdays. Insane. For those locals wondering where this is, it's in Shorewood at Strictly Fishing and Strictly Archery.

Each round of competition has a bonus round. The first week
Annabelle hit a mock silver dollar at 15 yds. This was the second
week bonus which no one made, but her and another competitor
got close. Yes, that's a floating ping pong ball which was
 set at 20 yds. - CRAZY!
